International Maritime Organization, IMO |

As a specialized agency of the United Nations founded in 1948, IMO is the global standard-setting authority for the safety, security and environmental performance of international shipping. Its main role is to create a regulatory framework for the shipping industry that is fair and effective, universally adopted and universally implemented. IMO currently has 170 Member States and three Associate Members. IMO measures cover all aspects of international shipping – including ship design, construction, equipment, manning, operation and disposal – to ensure that this vital sector for remains safe, environmentally sound, energy efficient and secure. |

Maritime & Coastguard Agency, MCA |
|
Included into the Department for Transport of the United Kingdom, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency implements the government's maritime safety policy in the UK and works to prevent the loss of life on the coast and at sea. Among other services it inspects and surveys ships to ensure that they are meeting UK and international safety rules. It also provides certification to seafarers, register vessels and responds to pollution from shipping and offshore installations. Therefore, it works nationally and internationally to promote the safe construction, operation and navigation of ships. Standards and if necessary, regulations are developed at the International Maritime Organization and within the EU. In the section of Ships and Cargoes there is a point for Legislation and Guidance on construction, operation and navigation of ships. |

International Association of Classification Societies Ltd (IACS) |
|
Advisory organism of the IMO, was founded in 1968 by the ten most important international Classification Societies. Its members are: American Bureau of Shipping, Bureau Veritas, China Classification Society, Det Norske Veritas, Germanischer Lloyd, Korean Register of Shipping, Lloyd's Register, Nippon Kaiji Kyokai, Registro Italiano Navale and Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. In dependence of the UN, it remains as the only ONG acting as an observer with authorisation to develop and implement rules for the safety of ships and environment through the technical support, the verification of technical requirements, research and development. |

Association of European companies in Fishing Joint Ventures (ACEMIX) |
|
Association of freezing vessels owners, who due to different reasons, had to establish joint ventures in third countries all around the world (Argentina, Chile, Peru, Namibia, Falkland, South Africa, Morocco, etc.). It was funded in Vigo in 1994 and nowadays counts on 16 companies most of them from Galicia and with 77 ships. Most of these vessels are freezing trawlers. |

International Labour Organization (ILO) |

The ILO became the first specialized agency of the UN in 1946. The unique tripartite structure of the ILO gives an equal voice to workers, employers and governments to ensure that the views of the social partners are closely reflected in labour standards and in shaping policies and programmes. The main aims of the ILO are to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues. |

Association of the Galician Naval Cluster (ACLUNAGA) |

Established by initiative of the Consellería de Innovación e Industria (Department for Innovation and Industry) of the Regional Government of Galicia. Its main aim is to improve the development of all the companies within the Galician naval sector. At present it counts on 180 companies whose products and services includes all the segments in the value chain of ship building –from shipyards and engineering to classification and certifying societies, and also suppliers of equipment and provisions, qualifier companies, installers or complementary companies. |

Founded in 1977, it is a national business organization, devised for the coordination, representation, management, support and defence of the Spanish Shipping Companies interests. South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO) |

Organismo que presta asistencia técnica y apoyo a la Comisión Europea y los Estados miembros en el desarrollo y aplicación de la legislación de la UE sobre la seguridad marítima, la contaminación por los buques y la protección marítima. También se ha realizado tareas operativas en el campo de la contaminación por hidrocarburos, de localización de buques y en la identificación de largo alcance y el seguimiento de los buques. |

South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO) |

It is a regional fisheries management organisation in South East Atlantic Ocean whose main aim is to ensure the long-term conservation and sustainable use of the fishery resources in the Convention Area through the effective implementation of the Convention. The Convention Area excludes exclusive economic zones of the coastal states in the region. SEAFO comprises of the Commission, the Scientific Committee, the Compliance Committee and the Standing Committee on Administration and Finance as subsidiary bodies and the Secretariat. Member countries: Angola, the European Community, Japan, Namibia, Norway, Republic of Korea, South Africa. |

Spanish Fisheries Confederation (CEPESCA) |

It gathers most of the fishing sector joining forces to defend the economic and professional interests of the sector and represent them before the different administrations. Cepesca comprises the three main national fish traders associations (FEOPE, FEABP y ONAPE). It counts on 44 ship owners associations, 1.440 companies, 1.650 vessels and almost 20.000 workers. |
